Bollywood
Everyone I know kind of freak out when I say I am getting into Bollywood, and that I like it. But It is not so unlike me. All the indian mvies I have seen end happily or are meant to be funny. And the dancing makes me want to learn instead of scaring me away XD.

I know I already recommended Belly Delhi, so, watch it. But add to the count this fantastic Zindagi na Milegi Dobara, even though the kilometric title might not be very appealing, the entire movie is set in Spain, with spanish actors also. And please, compare the fidelity of the representation of the country as opposed to, for example "Vantage point", which was done in Mexico and somewhere that reminds me of Morocco, countries that I love, but are not in Spain.
You may think that Bollywood is crappy done and low cost, but at least they do their homework and do research about the country in which the movie is supposed to happen. Hollywood will simply and shamelessy show its wrong conceptions to the world without even think they may be in a complete error.

And the worst part is that we will believe it all, because it is a film from the States.

PS. Just because, a superb song from Delhi Belly http://grooveshark.com/s/Bhaag+D+k+Bose+Aandhi+Aayi+Www+songs+pk/45DQ3H?src=5

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILBO AND FRODO! (You can start greeting me too while you are at it)

And while I am talking about food, I might say there is something australian that I somehow skipped, it is called Vegemite.
This paste is made of god knows what, but I tend to compare it with Bovril. The flavour is horrible and too salty, yet somehow people here enjoy having a sandwich with this thing inside.

If you come to Australia be warned against it. However, if you still want to try, go to the supermarket, it is usually beside Nutella, peanut butter and other thigs that actually taste good.

And I completely fell for this when I saw a half price offer... because this just tastes different to any other, and I am a bit special with these things.

Seems like the posts are not from last month anymore, which is kind of bad since it means I have not posts scheduled for long. And that is why I am here. And also to talk about the food in Australia.

This country seems to rely in its neighbours for cooking their food, since most of what you can find is thai, malasian and chinese food. And of course italian, because the amount of italian people in here is incredibly high. The only typical australian food I can think of is meat pie, which is really good, but also reminds me a bit of the british, which is obviously the ones that brought the idea from overseas. That leaves us with kangaroo and emu that are actually kinds of meat and not dishes, being the last conclusion: There is no food from Australia.

However, you should try one of the nice burguer restaurants in Freemantle, the "just burguers" in Perth, and the meat pies in York. For a complete inmersion in the culture, go to Hungry Jacks and make a picture of the place, nobody will believe it relly is Burguer King if there is not visual proof.

Note the Whopper advertisement in the door, for those who are still dubious

Other imported concept, one I am very pleased with, even though my bank account thinks otherwise is this.

Does it ring a bell?, I bet it does not if you have not been to China on your own (those pesky tour operators just seem to enjoy you not being able to taste a bit of the local produce or real life in the place you go to), this, my friends is Pearl Tea (or as called in Australia: Bubble tea), one of the things I missed most after my trip to China. I love milk tea the way they prepare it, and if you add jelly spheres to the combination it just becomes the most awesome cold beverage in the universe. And I can have it here. For a ridiculosly high price and not quite the same taste, but I can. And I am very happy for that.

Tourism in Perth. Towns and stuff near Perth (In no particular order)

Mandurah.
Beautiful marina, packed with little shops and perfect restaurants to have a cake and tea (5.90 dollars in winter) and enjoy the sunshine while looking at the expensive boats. The streets and parks look like they were finished yesterday and it is so cute you want to spend the whole day wandering around.
Very small though, and I am pretty sure it will be packed in summer.

Freemantle.
Small town with a lot of beaches, the main street is always lively and the town hall is very nice even though is completely fake. Just wandering around is worth it, together with a visit to the markets.

York.
This town consists in one street that could have been taken from the Far West part of Port Aventura, cute, but do not know if worth the two hours drive.

Cotlestoe Beach.
In Perth, with awesome expensive looking houses in one side, kilometers of beach at the other, and fancy restaurants and cafes in between. Good place to walk in winter. I have yet to try it in summer.

New Norcia
Again one hour and a half away from Perth, this town consists in 3 builndings done by the spanish Benedictin monks when they came to Australia. Interesting from a historical point of view, but not espectacular.

Caversham.
My life is complete, I have feed a kangaroo. And made zillions of pictures of it. This is something everyone must do if they come to WA. It might be a huge big piece of nothing, but they have some ideas.
I have no idea of the price or how to get there as I was taken from the uni. Sadly the orientation week is over and I am not going to have more easy trips.
